The Troy Bolton effect

NBC’S “Rise” and the Troy Bolton effect…..years ago Disney’s High School Musical was a hit. I never thought of it as having more effect than a nice, albiet cliche, Disney Channel Movie.  Now with the release of the new series ‘Rise’ it’s made me see HSM differently. I was an athlete and performer growing up and after HSM as soon as someone learned that they said ‘heyyyy like Troy Bolton’! Today we see a much greater acceptance and fluidity between athletes and thespians and I have to recognize how Zac Efron as Troy Bolton played a great part in that.
